Health
is a necessity to live a prosperous life. But humanity is determined to destroy
this beautiful aspect from its nature. Emerging health issues are directly
affecting the life expectancy rate all around the world. There has been
rhetoric going on between the WHO (world health organization) officials
to tackle health-related problems. But the problem is that these issues
cannot be solved just by doing a debate or speech. We have to understand the
ground reality here.
The
junk-food industry is one of the many reasons behind the
increase in health-related issues. The predilection of today’s youth is
towards the unhygienic junk-food because its easily available in many
forms and is cheaper than the actual meal that’s good for health. According
to a study conducted at the IHME (institute of health metrics and
evaluation) consumption of unhealthy food items decreases the lifespan
of a human faster than smoking. Compared to the hyenic diet junk-food contains
the negligible nutrient value and has high levels of salts, sugars, and fat.
For the record, only in the USA, almost 700,000 people die each year
just because of junk-food.
Diseases
caused by junk or processed food are as follow:
·
Risk of obesity
·
Depression
·
Digestive disorders
·
Heart disease and stroke
·
Diabetes
·
Cholesterol issues
From
the total death-troll caused by the junk-food annually, 22% counts for
those which are below the age of 70.
According
to this study, youth is the most affected by the junk-food industry.
Obsession
The
ones for whom junk intake becomes compulsive and
uncontrollable at times are considered as an obsession. It’s no amazement that
the human body needs food for survival but some people get addicted to certain
types of food. This addiction can be a result of emotional disturbance like
stress, anger, and sadness. Addiction to food is not a thing to be taken
lightly. According to recent studies, it declared that food and drug addiction
are not much different. Both of the addictions disrupt the parts of the brain
responsible for self-control and have the same sense of pleasure.
How
to reduce it?
A
study shows that one cannot quit the junk-food in an instant or a long run
it's a part of life now and shows no signs of going away anytime soon.
According to a study conducted by a Harvard professor, one can reduce its junk
intake by adding hygienic or organic nutrients to a daily meal. For Example 6
French fries a day along with fresh lattice is considered a good meal.
The
study also shows that developed countries are more affected by this industry
than developing one. its because in the 3rd world or developing
countries vegetable and grain consumption is preferred over the junk intake.
And
almost all the regions of the world saw a climb in the consumption of
artificial nutrients.
